The University of Iowa retained CSL International to assess the viability of a financing plan for an addition and renovation to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, the home venue for the Hawkeyes men’s and women’s basketball programs. The University’s initial financing plan consisted of capital gift pledges, priority seating gifts and premium seating donations. To assess the reasonableness of the financing plan, CSL analyzed the historical operations of the Hawkeye basketball programs and compiled benchmark information from peer institutions regarding courtside seating programs, club seating programs, priority seating programs, and project fundraising to provide context in which to evaluate the financing plan for Carver-Hawkeye Arena improvements. CSL’s study results were presented to the Board of Regents for financing approval of the project.

The $43 million renovation and addition to Carver-Hawkeye Arena was completed in 2011. The renovation and additions included premium seating, hospitality facilities, offices and meeting spaces as well as a new 75,000 square foot basketball practice facility that includes two practice courts (men’s and women’s), a strength and conditioning center, locker rooms and offices.

Additionally, CSL provided feasibility studies to the University of Iowa to obtain Board of Regents approval for the $100 million renovation of Kinnick Stadium and the $40 million construction of a new Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
